JeepsterGal Videos
On You Tube I’m known as JeepsterGal and I’ve met many of you down in the San Juans. You can’t miss me…I’m the one in the white Jeep Cherokee with a camera mounted on my roof and the word “JeepsterGal” across my back bumper! Most of my videos are from the San Juans, but I do have other videos as well. I videotape the route using a Sticky Pod camera mount and take plenty of photos along the way!
My sidekick Rio is always with me, and you’ll see his predecessor Scooter in many of the older photos. My friend Jan helps drive and together we monitor the video through a portable DVD player we connect to the camera so we can make sure we’re getting the shot we want. It’s a tangle of wires and bungee cords inside, but somehow we usually get the shot!
The first time we used the camera mount was in 2006, on Yankee Boy Basin. We tried a side mount, a hood mount, a dash mount, and drove that trail 4 times in one day alone! One time we got to the end only to discover there was a drop of water on the lens from a puddle and the entire video was ruined. that prompted the use of the portable DVD player (and a raincoat for the camera). We’ve had lots of hits and misses filming these trails but the payoff when you round a curve and get that beautiful Colorado sky and a range of snow capped peaks is amazing! We can see it all play out in front of us on the DVD player and it’s a thrill to get that “money shot!”
Please visit my You Tube channel, JeepsterGal, and enjoy the videos!
Whereas I got bugs, misaligned shots, videos I don’t want and missed videos that I really wanted. And I didn’t find this out until I got home. I need a netbook. Great website!

I DROVE THE GOLDCAMP ROAD WHEN IT WAS STILL OPEN THE FULL LENGTH INTO COLORADO SPRINGS. THE LAST SECTION NOT SEEN IN YOUR VIDEO IS THE MOST AWE INSPIRING .YOU CAN SEE FOR MILES AND MILES OVER A VALLY. WHEN I WAS THERE I SAW BEAR AND MOOSE FAR DOWN ALONG THE CREEK. AND THERE WERE EAGLES FLYING TOO. BLEW ME AWAY. SO RAW AND PURE SAME AS IT MUST HAVE BEEN A THOUSAND YEARS AGO. TOTALLY UNSPOILED..THIS WAS THE AREA SUPPOSEDLY THAT TEDDY ROOSEVELT SAID ‘THE VIEW BANKRUPES THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE” AND HE WAS RIGHT.DROVE THIS IN MY 1970 CHEVY VAN 2 WHEEL DRIVE.THE ROAD WAS ROUGH AND I NEVER SAW ANOTHER CAR THE WHOLE LENGTH. THIS WAS A MEMORY ILL NEVER FOR GET. I TRAVELED DOWN SEVERAL ROADS IN MY VAN WITH OUT A SINGLE PROBLEM. THANKS FOR BRINGING BACK THOSE MEMORIES FOR ME.KEEP DRIVING GIRL.
It’s a gorgeous drive, and I’ve driven it so many times I’ve lost count…and never get tired of it. Thanks for taking the time to write!
Great information, and love the videos.
What have you done to your Cherokee, and was it used on all the trails?
Some friends and I will be up there, doing many of these this year.
It’s a stock 1999 Cherokee Sport but with the puncture-proof MTR tires that come standard on the Rubicon. Those tires are amazing. Is that what you mean, what modifications I’ve made to the vehicle? But yes, the Cherokee was used on all the trails, with the exception of Black Bear Road, where I was on the back of a friend’s ATV 🙂 Thanks for watching!
What video editing software do you use? I really like your work.
I have talked be fore, my daughter is coming to colo. after the holidays, i mentioned to her that you said (somewhere) you might be interested in joining in.? she wants to do pearl pass from crested butte to aspen.. if inteested let me know and i will get you guy’s conected…
Elmer
Hey there Elmer! That is too far for me to do a day trip, unfortunately. When is she coming? That road is only accessible really in the summer, so I thought I would mention that since you said after the holidays… That’s supposed to be a pretty trail, but difficult.
Have you ever thought of doing Blanca Peak? Made it with my brother and sister-in-law on a can-am and I on a 400ex. it was a great ride with a lot of “pucker” factors, mostly coming back down. Just a thought. If you try makes sure at least one bike has a Winch.
great videos! been out there every year since 1989. cant get enough. just bought jeep. been up imogene.plan on spending a monthout there this summer.would like to ask you for some advice on some of the roads. i am not toswift on typing. is there a way i can contact you?
Hey Jeepster Gal,
I enjoy watching you videos. I live in Oklahoma and have explored Colorado a few times and really enjoy it. I have explored in and around Gunnison, Leadville, and up around Blackhawk/Central City. I was wondering if you are making any new videos? And is the only way to contact you through this website or do you have an email for your website? Thanks
I was planning a trip to Colorado and have several questions about some of the trails. Seems you have a lot of experience on them. How can I get some info on the trails. We are wanting to go west out of Lake City, Co over to Ouray on Cinn Pass or “Engineer Pass. The problem I have is I have 3/4 ton Chevy Hd extended cab and long bed. Think I would have any problems with this truck on these trails?
I’m sitting here with the Charles A Wells book ever at my side + 4-Wheel Freedom by Brad Delong great reading!!
On my tour next month I plan to use my Canon DSLR and my GoPro Hero 2 HD!! Hopefully I can get some videos good and shots!
Well thanks again or all the great vids, and hope to meet you on the trail someday… (:
Just watched your off road video. I’m trying to find specific video of Jasper. This is as close as I can get so far. Thanks for your efforts at letting people share your journey.

Greetings,
Do you have any photos or videos of the trail that leads down to the old Eureka townsite?
I’m trying to get a clear idea of the best way to get to a section of the mountainside along Niagara Creek. Ground level photos provide a vastly different view than that provided by Google Maps!
I’ve enjoyed watching your Eureka Gulch video. Think my Chevy Blazer could handle that trail?
thanks and keep recording!
